From our 2006-07 SGA President

Hey Wildcats!
This is your Student Government President welcoming you to a new year at Western High. We at SGA have great plans and high expectations for the 2007-2008 school year, and with your help we can make this year a success!

Our short-term goals for the next few weeks include orchestrating the Freshman Elections, which will take place in September, getting the news out about our upcoming football games, and making Homecoming happen. Fliers and posters about these various events can be seen around the school, and it’s important for you and your friends to get involved in the plans! Freshmen should take advantage of the opportunity to represent their class in their first year of high school and run for Class Office. What better way to help your class get off to a good start? And all members of every class – Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors alike – should take note of important dates coming up in the school calendar! The football season will be starting on September 14th with a sizzling match between the Western Wildcats and our rival, Cypress Bay, on our home turf. T-shirts for the event will be available for purchase at the green counter during the week before the game. Pack up your school spirit, call all your friends and come support your school’s football team! Games will be every Friday night.

Of course, what’s really on everyone’s mind now is Homecoming. When is it? Where is it? What’s the theme? This year our Homecoming Dance will be held on Saturday, October 13 at the Hyatt Resort (Pier 66) and the theme is time warp. Each class will pick a time frame they would like to represent. To answer the other questions you may have, drop in at your class meeting and ask! Class meetings for all grades are on Tuesdays in designated rooms. Listen to the announcements for the details, and get involved! Raising school spirit and inspiring everyone to participate in school events is yet another goal of the Student Government, and we urge you to take interest in your class – join clubs, help plan events, and experience the satisfaction that comes from working together.

Have a great year Wildcats!

Your president,
Nazie Mohi

Western High School Clubs and Activities are a great way to get involved and help our school and community.

Clubs are a great way to earn service hours and look good on college resume's. Colleges look for students who are involved with their schools and who have serviced their community.

We encourge you to explore the different and diverse clubs that our school has to offer and to visit their meetings. The sponsors and times of meetings are listed on the coresponding clubs webpage.

We also advise you confirm with the sponsor for times and dates of their meetings and the requirements they might have to join their club.

Most of all have ENJOY! Clubs are a great way to meet new people and have fun in school.
