Western Celebrates Its Exceptional
Teaching Staff
September | October | November | December | January | February | March | April | May
It
has often been said that teaching is a thankless
job. At Western, we want to ensure our teachers
do not feel this way. We make a point to honor
those teachers who go above and beyond and demonstrate
leadership, initiative, creativity and unending
devotion to their students and the teaching profession.
Each month we honor one teacher for his/her dynamic
work with our Wildcats. The teacher receiving this
honor each month receives a Visa gift certificate,
a Certificate of Appreciation and a special parking
spot in front of the school.

Joseph Franco Named September’s Teacher of the Month
When Joseph Franco began teaching at Western two years ago, it quickly became apparent that he was a true asset to our students and staff. Joseph is a graduate of SUNY College at Old Westbury, in New York; he holds a degree in Biology. Mr. Franco teaches both regular and honors level Biology at Western and fills each class with innovation and excitement. Mr. Franco makes every minute of every class meaningful for his students by implementing an approach that is diversified and hands-on.
In addition to his work in the classroom, Mr. Franco has immersed himself in the culture of our school through his work as the Interact Sponsor, Assistant Wrestling coach, and facilitator for laptop training. He has developed his own unique curriculum materials and is successfully developing a new teaching methodology centering around differentiated learning to ensure student success in science.
Mr. Franco is truly an exceptional teacher! This is a well deserved honor!
